CALL TO ACTION:
Following numerous complaints our Society has received from Kenyans that are angry about the noise pollution emanating from places of worship in residential areas, we have asked NEMA (National Environmental Management Commission) to shut down these places of worship.
A lot of these places of worship are a huge nuisance to public peace. Some mosques conduct prayers every five hours, with loud speakers mounted outside their buildings, to invite faithfuls, while some churches hold Sunday services using microphones that are too loud for the comfort of nearby residents. Some churches still hold nigh vigils despite the night curfew.
These places of worship are in violating of existing noise pollution laws.
As a society, we are taking proactive measures and we will provide NEMA with the names of Churches and Mosques that emit too much noise that disturbs the peace of Kenyans.
