In light of a guilty verdict and subsequent sentencing of acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli by Hon. Justice Mugambi, we demand that the acting AG do what is right for our country, and in line with Chapter 6 of our Constitution – RESIGN.
Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has been sentenced to six months imprisonment for contempt of court.
JUDICIARY
Acting IG Masengeli’s brazen disobedience of the rule of law, after failing to honour seven court summons, should be frowned upon by all right-thinking Kenyans. It renders him unfit to hold public office.
We also call upon the National Police Security Council (NPSC) and the Interior Ministry to ensure that the judgment by Justice Mugambi is discharged to ensure that public trust in the security authorities is not eroded.
