Passengers in the Enziu tragedy insisted on crossing the river, saying that God was with them

It is now emerging that the driver of the bus in the Enziu tragedy didn’t want to cross the river but the passengers insisted, saying that God was with them.

Twenty-two out of the 24 people so far reported dead in the Enziu river bus accident were members of St. James Good Shepherd Catholic church in Mwingi, Kitui County. They died after a St. Joseph’s Seminary bus they were traveling in was swept away by water at a rift while it attempted to cross the river at around 1.30 pm on Saturday.

The victims were headed to a wedding ceremony when the incident occurred.
